Description

Celebrate the Mitzvah of the Moon! The Mitzvah of Rosh Chodesh encourages you to use your freedom and natural gifts and talents to live out your heart’s desire and serve your highest purpose for yourself and your larger community. Rosh Chodesh is a sacred time for women to set a course for the month ahead.

In this fast-paced, digitally-driven world, we can easily lose touch with the rhythms of nature. For millennia, though, our ancestors have kept track of time using our lunisolar calendar, where each new month begins with a new moon. Put down your device, pick up a pencil or pen, and spend some time reconnecting with the wisdom of the lunar cycle and yourself.

The Journaling Planner  is 324 spiral-bound pages and includes:

  • Full-page Jewish and Secular calendars for each month of the year. PLEASE NOTE: This journaling planner begins 23 September, 2025/1Tishrei 5786, which is Rosh Hashanah or the first day (and the first New Moon) of the Jewish year.
  • A two-page Rosh Hashanah/New Year spread for you to set intentions for the year, creating a guiding vision. Then, with each New Moon, you can set intentions for the baby steps towards that vision and/or set up new experiments for that particular lunar cycle.
  • A two-page spread for each of the four major moon phases (Rosh Chodesh/New Moon, First Quarter Moon, Full Moon, Third Quarter Moon), with journaling prompts for each that will help guide you to set intentions in the four areas of your life—Mind, Spirit, Heart, and Body.
  • A two-page spread for the days of the week between the four major moon phases, providing you with space for daily journaling or recording the message from a Tarot, Oracle, or Affirmation card pull. The Torah portions for each week are also provided.
  • Space on every two-page spread to place a sticker or notation of a card pull, along its associated chakra, and whether the card has a masculine or feminine essence.
  • Lots of space for to-do lists, jotting down a favorite quote, or noting the epiphanies and synchronicities of the day.
  • Graphics that encourage you to color and doodle with your favorite colored pencils or markers.

The Journaling Planner sets you up to realize your vision for the month ahead. It provides a place to figure out what’s important to you, embrace what feels right for you, and make more of that happen. Within its covers, the Journaling Planner allows the sacred space to write down your thoughts, epiphanies, and intentions. Writing them by hand—instead of simply thinking about them—helps you clarify your desires, getting them out of your mind and onto paper, creating a visible reminder of your priorities. Studies show that you are 42% more likely to achieve what you want if you write it down, as it helps you to stay inspired and on track. As a board-certified coach for women, this is the same technique I use with my clients.

10% of net proceeds will be donated to the Women of Reform Judaism.

  1. Heather Mendel

At last, Lisa Capehart has created a perfect way for us to note our spiritual growth as women whose views of Jewish practice are constantly evolving. Paying attention to times and seasons, marked by sun and moon, allows us to enjoy the mitzvah of Rosh Chodesh, focusing on setting and journaling our intentions, month by month. Writing them down reminds us that small steps taken help us realize our visions for the highest good of all concerned. For those of us who watch for synchronicities, serendipities, or ‘coincidences’ from the world around us, or from our dreams, or drawn from an oracle deck of choice, Lisa wisely provides us the space to attend to our inner world imagery in the busyness of everyday life. Kol Ha-Kavod, Lisa!

This is a beautiful and inspiring invitation to deepen my connection with spiritual tradition and the cycles of nature.

I appreciate the wide range of tools and guidance available from an eclectic mix of sources, including Tarot cards.

Unlike any other planner I’ve seen before, Lisa Capehart’s Rosh Chodesh Journaling Planner combines space for deep contemplation, for goals and intentions, for achievement and growth, for creativity, for dreams, for spirituality. Although written for Jewish women, it can easily speak to women of diverse world views. Journaling prompts and generous spaces for planning, visioning, notes, and quotes are open to whatever perspective you bring to them. If you are part of the Jewish community, it could bring you deeper into your tradition as well as to yourself. If you are of a different background, the Journal can offer a glimpse into a tradition you may not yet be familiar with. Try it–I think you will find it unique.
